Construction on Napa Creek Site
This project, which occurs throughout both residential and business areas of Napa, California, required great sensitivity to the local residents while maintaining water quality in the Napa Creek and the Napa River. Extensive shoring was utilized in order to protect buildings adjacent to the project with a close adherence to vibration limits. Streambed restoration of Napa Creek was central to the project and involved the reconstruction of over 4,200 lineal feet of Napa Creek through the heart of historic downtown Napa. As part of the stream restoration work, PrōVen installed root wads, logs and woody debris to help restore the stream banks to their natural state. Native landscaping was constructed to recreate the natural riparian coditions of Napa Creek as much as possible.
The work on this project included the construction of two 15' high by 25' wide reinforced concrete bypass box culverts, one 365' long and the other 425' long. In order to work within the confines of the Town of Napa, PrōVen installed over 60,000 square feet of temporary shoring and built over 300' of concrete retaining walls. A new bridge over Napa Creek was constructed in addition to terrace grading, channel stabilization treatments, channel smoothing treatments, temporary and permanent relocation of storm, water, sewer, and gas utilities.
