Main Waste Water Treatment Plant Digester Upgrade, Phase 2
The EBMUD Digester Uprgade Project, Phase 2 included: rehabilitation of four existing two million gallon digesters by replacing the floating covers with fixed covers, adding internal mixers and new mechanical pumps and piping; rehablitation of of seven existing two million gallon digesters my adding mechanical pumps and piping; conversion of two secondary digesters to primary; construction of two 30,000 gallon receiving tanks for fats, oils, and grease (FOG); construction of two 200,000 gallon sludge blending tanks; construction of new feed, transfer and withdrawl piping systems; construction of a new electrical substation; installation of odor control equipment; HVAC modifications; construction of an employee locker room / lunch room; and various site improvements. These modifications will help EBMUD cost-effectively protect the San Francisco Bay's water quality, improve system process performance and efficiency, contribute to ongoing odor management efforts and support EBMUD's efforts to recycle trucked food wastes and similar products.
